ARTIST STATEMENT
When I moved to Los Angeles I started getting more in touch with my Jewish identity because it was suddenly absent from my life. I was without Jewish family, friends, or community, and I yearned for connection. Then the pandemic hit and that search for Jewish community has led me backwards, seeking guidance from my grandma (Omi), and my mom (Katy) during this time. With their memories in mind I formed OmiKatyMe to create Jewish films with Passion, Joy, and Grace.
My first short film, Beefies, is on the festival circuit now, and there are more stories coming down the pipeline. Hope to connect with you on this journey.
